The wedding was a blast from our perspective, and we hope that everyone had a great time. Everything just seemed to fall into place, and we couldn't have asked for a better day to get married. Even the rain, when it came, seemed to start at the perfect time: after everyone was safely under the tents and enjoying dinner. It cooled down the summer breeze and gave us a beautiful double rainbow to boot.

We just can't say enough about how grateful we are for all of the bridal party members and others who worked so hard to make this day a memorable one. We want you to know that all your efforts are dearly appreciated. The chapel, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the reception: everything was perfect. Thank you all so much!

As you might imagine, we are in the final stages of preparation for the wedding, so updates have been sparse for the past few weeks. We are so excited to have everyone come in to Charlottesville, and we can't wait to see everyone next weekend!

Because our wedding is at 1pm, if you are arriving in town on Saturday and are planning on staying in a hotel, you most likely won't be able to check in until after the wedding. This becomes a problem since you won't have a place to park your car, and the chapel does not have a parking lot. Street parking is pretty limited in the area, so the best bet is to park at the UVa parking deck. From there it is only a short walk to the chapel. This applies to those that are coming up for the day as well.

To help make this a little clearer, I have created a map in Google maps that has all of the key locations marked, and the routes to follow between them. Just click here to view the map. If you need directions to the parking deck for example, you can click on the parking deck pushpin on the map and select 'directions to here' to get personalized directions after typing in your address.

I have also added places like the reception location, the hotels, and nearby places to eat. I hope this helps those that are new to the area. We're sure you're going to like Charlottesville. It's a great town (and was rated #1 place to live in the US by USA Today a while back!)

Lots of Becky's relatives in the area and most of my immediate family were also in attendance. We had a great time witnessing the two families bond. The shower was Irish-themed in honor of family heritage and St. Patrick's Day, complete with shamrocks, ham and cabbage, and Wild Irish Rose. Everything was really nice and we had a great time playing all the shower games, including wedding trivia, present bingo, and the shoe-in game. We got so many great gifts that we could barely fit them all in the car! Obviously dogs aren't allowed in the church but we thought maybe we could get all the dogs together on the Lawn before the reception. It's a really beautiful place, and we think it will be the perfect location to celebrate our marriage with friends and family on a pleasant June evening in Charlottesville.
